REMEMBERING BRICK BY BRICK
THROUGH YOUR WILL

Leaving a gift to Brick by Brick London Home Activity Group in your Will is a very special way of supporting its work in helping homeless people in London.
Brick by Brick London Home Activity Group is a registered charity. Gifts to registered charities are totally exempt from United Kingdom inheritance tax. For inheritance tax purposes the value of your estate is reduced by the full amount of your gift to charity – so that the tax payable on your estate can be reduced, or even eliminated.

How to make a Will

You should instruct a solicitor to prepare your Will. Most solicitors will quote a fixed price for dealing with your Will. Many solicitors charge a lower fee if a couple instruct the solicitor to prepare both their Wills at the same time. Making a Will is not usually expensive.
If your wishes or circumstances change, your Will can be altered by preparing a codicil – a short supplementary document setting out the changes, which is kept together with the original Will.

How to help Brick by Brick through your Will

There are three main ways that you can support Brick by Brick through your Will:-

  • by pecuniary legacy – a gift of a fixed sum of money to the charity.
  • by a specific gift – a gift of particular assets to the charity.
  • by a residuary legacy – leaving all or a fixed proportion of your estate (after deduction of specific gifts and legacies) to the charity.

Below we set out suggested wording for each of these options, which we would recommend you pass to your solicitor.
